So, What Is Sage? A Not-Too-Long (But Hopefully Helpful) Explainer

What Is Sage?

After some recent conversations, we thought it’d be useful to write this post and clear up exactly what Sage is — and maybe, just maybe, blow your mind a little.

What Makes Sage Tick

Sage is not just one thing. It’s a marketplace, an aggregator, and a creator — all rolled into one. Unlike platforms that churn out basic agent clones (yawn), Sage is built to allow for ALL agents. If something has an API, it can be integrated. No exceptions.

Agents Without Limits

This is where it gets cool. The kinds of agents you can create on Sage? Literally limitless. You can mix and match nodes that are cross-compatible and build whatever you want. It’s all up to you.

Need examples? We’ve got you:

Want an agent that trades for you on a DEX or perp exchange and then posts those trades to Twitter or Telegram? You can do that.

Dreaming of an agent that can plan a perfect trip to Italy and politely email your Gmail contacts the itinerary? Go for it.

How about a digital poetry companion that writes you a poem every night, converts it to audio, and sends it to your Telegram? Why not?

Can’t code, but want to build a Scrabble game and share it with your friends on Slack? Yup, you can make an agent for that, too.

Two Ways to Create Agents: Simple or Complex

Here’s where it gets even better: you can build agents in two ways, depending on your mood (or patience level).

1. Altar (our workflow platform): This is for the perfectionists out there — if you want to fine-tune every detail, Altar lets you create highly complex agents.

2. Telegram Interface: Want something quicker? Just use plain, natural language to spin up an agent. It’s easy, simple, and intuitive.

The choice is yours: detailed and complex, or simple and fast.

How Our Devs Operate

Our dev team is basically a hive of productivity. Some focus on UI, others build protocol integrations, nodes, workflows… you get the idea. By dividing and conquering, we can roll out features faster and build a more robust platform.

Custom APIs? Yes, Please.

If you’ve got access to a paid API (like the premium version of ChatGPT), you can plug it right into Sage and use it as part of your agent. You bring the API, we make it work.

Beta Launch & Developer Incentives

We’re getting super close to launching the public beta for both Altar and our Telegram interface (it’s coming very soon). To celebrate and supercharge creativity, we’re incentivizing developers to create custom workflows.

Here’s the deal:

We already have a bunch of workflows ready to go.

But we want your ideas — your unique spins — and we’re ready to reward you for them. Think competition-style incentives.

Smooth User Experience

We’ve got account abstraction and easy login pathways built in (read more on our Medium). Basically, Sage is designed to be as smooth and user-friendly as possible — no headaches, just results.

The Token Side of Things

Now, about tokens (without diving too deep):

You’ll be able to monetize workflows and agents you create.

Owning the Sage token unlocks perks like advertising your workflows, reduced fees, revenue sharing, governance, and more.

If you want the full breakdown, there’s already a detailed article on our Medium.

TL;DR: Sage is a limitless agent platform where you can build, integrate, and share agents however you want — complex or simple. Public beta is coming soon, and we’re ready to reward developers for building something unique. Buckle up.
